VELOREACT ("the app") is a calculator. You enter a pitch speed and a distance, and it tells you the ball's flight time and what speed from a regulation 60'6" mound would take the same time to arrive. It measures nothing, connects to nothing, and collects nothing.

The app is rated 4+ because it contains no objectionable content of any kind — no violence, no language, no user-generated content, no advertising, no purchases inside the app. A child can read every screen safely.

The training it describes is a different matter, and it is for adults to run. The app's central idea is that moving a pitching machine closer to a hitter shortens their reaction time. That is a physical drill with real risk, and the app has no way to see your equipment, your field, or the people standing in it.

Before you move the machine

The app shows this notice on first launch, and it can be re-read any time from Settings → Safety.

  • Use a protective screen. Moving the machine closer shortens everyone's reaction time, not just the hitter's. The feeder and anyone in the path of a batted ball need an L-screen or equivalent.
  • An adult supervises every session. This app is a reference for a coach. It is not a coach, and it is not something to hand a young player to run on their own.
  • Match the distance to the hitter in front of you. Start where the hitter is comfortable and shorten it only as they show they can handle it. Never pick a distance because the number it produces looks impressive.
  • The app cannot see your setup. It knows a speed and a distance. It does not know the hitter's age or skill, your machine, your screen, your field, or who else is standing nearby — and it does not recommend any distance.
  • Back up at the first sign of trouble. A hitter who cannot track the ball is telling you the distance is wrong. That is the signal to move back, not to try harder.

The app reports flight time. It does not judge whether a drill is safe for the people in front of you. That judgment is yours.

Coaches, instructors and parents. It is used around youth baseball and softball players, and it collects no data from anyone of any age - see the Privacy Policy.

About the numbers

The model is deliberately simple: flight time is distance divided by speed, in a straight line, at constant velocity. It ignores drag, movement, pitcher extension and hitter biomechanics. A real baseball loses roughly ten percent of its speed on the way to the plate. Treat the numbers as a training comparison, not a measurement - and never as a medical or injury-risk assessment.
